The 2007 Solar Decathlon to be held in October will be the
third
competition
sponsored by the Department of Energy. Past Decathlons in
2002 and 2005 have attracted the attention of hundreds of thousands of
visitors.
Twenty teams have been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to
compete in the 2007 Solar Decathlon. The teams, from colleges and
universities around the world, participate to design, build and operate
the most attractive and energy-efficient solar powered home.
Through its visibility and success, the Decathlon is helping to elevate
solar energy in the eyes of students and the public, and has resulted
in many new education and research initiatives at participating
universities.
